Eric,

The Haynes method indead does not work. There are two special tools for
this job. I recommend the first one.

1 a small fork goes betwwen the joint and the arm. turning a screw
connected to the tool will drive out the pin.

2 this is a fork. it goes between the joint and the arm. The shape as a
side look is like this:

      --- 
            ---
                  ------

Hit it with a hammer and the joint will come off. You will surely loose
the rubbers, and probably the joint.
