Clausager says that North America 1970 and later cars had the dual filament 
lamp at 
the top, whereas earlier it was in the middle.  Easiest way to check is to 
count the 
number of connectors down inside the lamp holder and on the lamps.  The 
locating pins 
are also offset on the dual filament to try and ensure that the lamp ends up 
with the 
right filament on the right circuit.
