Pay attention to what you got.

1.) Reasonable thermostat setting.
2.) Functional and clean heater valve.
3.) Clean heater core.
4.) Sealed heater box.
5.) Functional fan.
6.) Properly installed/functional cables.
7.) Ductwork in place and in good condition.
8.) Defroster vents not blocked.

You'll find the defroster works well.
