Listers, thanks for that insight. I'm nitpicking just a tad now.
This is strictly shade-tree stuff and I'm getting into a different realm
now that I have the car running and stopping as well as a 25 year old car
can be expected, actually better.
My B has moved me about 400 fun miles in the last two weeks along 2 lane
roads and over those middle of nowhere (yikes! bumppa bump weeeee) RR
crossings in comfort, since the ANSA was installed, and all a pleasure,
including the short drive to work. I need to keep improving in the name of
MOWOG and Lucas and all you MG listers that have helped me get to this
point.
I don't want a jacked up MG. Hell, it's not even that bad, I just want a
proper look and handling, is all, maybe half to one inch in the rear, a bit
stiffer ride! I THOUGHT that the GT springs were an improvement and I've
seen it suggested in other places besides the list.
I WILL naturally replace all the rubber bushes with the best (poly),
etc while I'm doing the rear resto.
As for the shocks, They aren't that bad. I'm not keen on going the tube
shock route until they're pronounced dead, just looking for advice.
The front IS bad, and I'm probably procrastinating on that for a little
while. There's a clunk in the front, but only when maneuvering in a
"carpark" at a standstill (I know, that's very bad). All I have to do is
look at the front suspension to tell it needs TLC. It's the rear that I
"feel" sidestepping on the turns....figured I'd start there.
But the temp and oil pressure stay put when I'm rapping her out on these
beautiful twisty roads ...and the car is singing happily, "This is what I
was born for!" and I reply with a stomp on the clutch and yank on the
shifter,
"Me Too!"
