Thanks to Ray and Ross who helped me sort out my lighting problems. When I
swapped chrome hardware, I pulled all the bulbs and tossed them in a jar.
Not a great idea, especially when I needed to know which numbers went where.
One neat thing, at Advance auto they had a computer set up for Sylvania's
bulbs. It told me every bulb I needed to know for my car, which made
cross-referencing easy.

When I set to work on the car, my dad informed me that he had a number of
1157 dual-filament bulbs in the garage. I elected to use his supply instead
of buying new, which he often sources from junkyards. My work progressed,
and I had the turn signals and front parking lights working when I started
in on the brake lights/parking lights. In Dad's stash, I found five 1157
bulbs and three 2057, the latter are brighter and new in a bubble pack, I
believe. I would place a bulb in the socket and turn on the parking lights
or hit the brake, but only one filament would light up. I spent hours
filing the connections, thinking that one was sitting higher than the other
and keeping one operation from functioning. Then I noticed that only one
filament was working no matter which connection it touched or which
connector was higher. It then hit me that I had come across a drawer of
bulbs with one filament broken. God bless my Dad, but I can't wait until
morning to hear his explanation of five bulbs with one filament burned out!
Needless to say, two new 2057 bulbs were fitted and now all electrical
systems in my car work!!! Only a set of tires keeps me from the road
(legally).

Thanks for the advice, again...When I re-design my webpage, I intend to list
all the known bulb numbers for the 'B...BTW, I replaced four of my gauge
lamps with the Radio Shack 7.5v bulbs - big difference. You could almost
read by the light they give off...Paradise by the dashboard lights?
