Light Switch on 69B

This on making my a bit crazy!

Can someone out there in MG land tell me how to remove the lighting 
switch from the lower left hand side of the dash? It has a metal clip that 
holds it in place and I can not determine how to remove it short of 
destroying the clip (which I'd rather not do!).
