The new blue powerlights are Xenon lamps. Their color temperature is
higher, and the light contains more light in the near U.V. region. They
have a few powerful peaks in the true U.V. range too, and the lamp coating
is supposed to block this off, which I suppose doesn't do the trick fully.
We've quite a number of Mercs and Beemers running on our roads, and the
lamps have caused some debate over here. A study - sponsored by the
manufacurers by chance-would show it's not the light that causes the
irritation, but people tend to focus on them because it's a relatively new
sight...
