<<Here's a question...What are we going to call the first years of the
century?  Will we say it's "ought-nine" in 2009, or will we say
"oh-nine?"  Two-thousand-nine sounds too wordy.  What will school
seniors will say..."I'm the class of double-ought!"  Hmmm...Maybe
school administration ought to start thinking about this.  Imagine the
embarrassment when a graduation ceremony ends with "I give you the
class of...uhhh...double zero!"

Based on past centuries (well, the last one mostly), 2000 will be referred to
as 'two thousand', and 2001 will be variously referred to as 'o-one', and
perhaps 'ought-one', although that tends to be a bit archaic.
All except Arthur C. Clarke, who if he were still with us would be excused for
saying the whole '2001' each time.
