Several vendors sell chrome plated pot metal window winders, they've held
up much better for me.

If it's the early style door pulls. The ones from a TR4a  IIRC work real
nice, same size, holes all line up nicely. Again they are a chrome plated
pot metal, look nice and look like they will hold up real well. I picked up
a nice pair for $3 at the Portland All British Field Meet last September.
