Today I come home from my first week at co-oping (working while
schooling). The following parts arrived, many to complete the assembly of
my engine: mounts, carb rebuild kits and air cleaners (to convert to SUs),
exhaust pipe and heat shield (SUs), and studs to replace the two that
broke when I was disassembling the engine.

Unfortunately I was supplied a bolt to replace one of the studs that holds
on main bearing cap #1. Considering the importance of this piece (I am
replacing one that stripped), should I move on with the assembly?

It's a high grade bolt but I'm not sure if it's the right length. It
looks the right length. I was planning on installing the engine tomorrow
night, as I am close to finishing the engine assembly.

So, should I install the bolt? (I still have the washer), or let my B wait
another week before it once again runs. Is the stud-bolt conbination
dangerous on the same bearing cap?

Thanks a bunch!! I was planning on putting the bottom end together
tonight, but if some of you say it's bad, the car waits :( And I miss it
another week :(

Thanks.
