Hello Everyone!

I just want to keep posted those people that have been such a
support to me in my first few weeks of MGB enthusiasm. I have
a severely seized engine in a '73, after finding lots of water
in the block due to a blown head gasket - as correctly guessed
by many of you. I tried rocking it, I tried using the
penetrating oil, and popping the clutch. Nothing worked
so this weekend, I pulled the engine! It was really something!
I've never done something like this before and it feels really
cool to have car parts all over my garage floor!

I removed the sump to find still 3 frozen pistons after
banging on them all with a hammer and a block of wood.
The one I did remove had the rod actually rusted in place
where it meets the piston. I think this may be my problem.
I can free the rust around the rings until the cows come
home but my engine will still be siezed! Also, the bearings
were standard and worn on the ones I pulled. Anyway I oiled
up the frozen ones and organized all the stuff I pulled
from under the hood (hoping I will get it back together
again!).

My next step is going to be pricing different machine shops
to hone the cylinders, dip and plane the block and head, as
well as the piston, rings, bearings, gaskets, etc hardware
pricing. I am in this and am happy about it!! It is my
hobby now! If anyone knows any good machinists or places
to take my stuff to or get hardware from, I am in the
Pasadena, California area.

And I want to thank all those who have helped me to get to
this point, cheering me on and telling me what to look for ;-)

                                                In MGBs,

                                                        - Mike -
