Ventilator rubber

Dear listers,

has anyone ever renewed the triangular rubber seal lining the ventilator ?.
A crack in the lower part caused the hinge pin from the window to rot away
completely. I managed to pry that one out, put in the new hinge pin and
refit the glass with new rubber ( washing-up liquid helps ) successfully.
The surrounding rubber however, looks a different beast altogether.
Any tricks or advice?
