While dismantling the cylinder head of my 69 B the other day I noticed what
appeared to be a 16p nail in the water jacket on the thermostat housing
side. I managed to pull it out bit by bit through the water ports. It
looks like it was about 7 inches long. About 5 inches is 1/8 inch round, the
remaining 2 inches are about 1/2 inch round. Appears to be cast iron, as it
is pretty brittle. Looks like it was in there for 30 years, too. Seems to
be too long to be dropped in there by the PO. I suspect it was used to hold
an sand core during the casting process. Any ideas? (Boy, this would
have been a hard noise to track down)
