'Just realized I didn't answer your whole question. No I didn't replace
the spring - I just guessed it might be too strong. The fact that on just
about every MGB I've ever owned (a bunch, believe me), the windows cranked
down very hard and up very easily. Something is overcompensating for
gravity. Even so I'm going to try Art Pfenninger's suggestion and see if
it helps. I've sure broken a bunch of plastic window cranks over the years.
