More on this discussion of operating temps for oil. Continental
recommends for its air cooled aviation engines that the oil temp be
maintained between 38C/100F and 116C/240F. This is for SAE 50.
Recommended oil change interval is 25 hours, which seems short, but
translates to 2000 miles @ 40 mph in a car. They recommend against the
use of multi-grade oil.
