Subject: Engine support rod

|While crawling under my '75 B I noticed that the rod the runs under the
|transmission to the back of the bell housing was so loose, it was rattling
|around. My Haynes refers to as an "Engine support Rod" Is there a specific
|procedure to tighten it up ? If so, what is it ? Also, it appears to be
either
|curved or bent, this might be to clear the bottom of the trans. But should
it
|be curved or straight ? My car is equipped with the OD trans, and it looks
as
|if a slight curve in the rod is necessary to clear the bottom of the trans.
|Also, my trans has always had a slight grind when shifting into 4th. My
RX-7
|Turbo did the same in 1st - 3rd gears. I cured it by switching to Redline
MT90
|trans lube. I am considering using it in the B's box, but am concerned
about
|it's effect on the OD unit. Anyone have any experience with this in these
cars
|?
|It was a miracle worker in the Mazda.
