Ray:
Yep, your 74 should have a "Restraint Rod" as Haynes calls it...my book
(copyright 1989) shows it on page 28 fig 1.4. Doesn't really give much
insight on installation.

Joe:
I tightened mine up until the rubber isolator bits compressed slightly and
the thing felt taught but not so tight as to defeat the vibration damping
effect of the mountings. The picture (Fig1.29 page 52) in the engine
installation section of Haynes appears to be the earlier version called a
"Stay rod" which is somewhat different than the 74 version. I don't have
overdrive but the restraint rod on my CB 74 car is straight. Maybe a past
encounter with road debris has bent it? It is the little strap from the
transmission crossmember that attaches to the exhaust that I have a hard
time keeping attached!
