Gearbox Input Bearing Removal? Gasket advice

The engine is out for the second time in 6 months and the input bearing was
whining like a blender. Does its removal require total gearbox disassembly
or what am I doing wrong.

The main reason for pulling the engine was to cure a rear oil leak. What is
the list wisdom on reassembly, paper gasket, rtv, rtv and gasket or chewing
gum? As always, responses are much appreciated.
