Ive been having some running hot
problems lately it would get almost up
to the red on hot days I had the
radiator recored last winter and also
put in a new temp sender but it was
running hotter than with the old
radiator.
So I checked the coolant level in the
overflow tank and it was always OK,
it never boiled and there was never any
coolant loss.I took the tstat cover off
and was using a pyrometer to see if the
guage was off and noticed it was getting
up there while idling with the fans on I
noticed the coolant seemed low I put in
a half gallon!!I must have had an air
block or something when I put the new
radiator in!No wonder it was running
hot!
The lesson from all this is don't use
the overflow tank to check your coolant
level! I thought it would suck the water
back if it was low but it was always
full.
