You know, I've had this symptom since I replaced the rear cylinders a few
months ago. The pedal is squishy at first pump, but a second pump is rock
solid. I've had three separate bleeding sessions, and even acquired an
Ezibleed on the advice of my mechanic. Each of my sessions had to be
terminated due to darkness, social obligations, or hunger before I was
completely satisfied.
There were a lot of posts about this sort of thing at the time.
Apparently it's not uncommon to have a stubborn air bubble. Some people
suggested leaving a bleed nipple open for a few hours or even overnight.
I keep thinking I'm going to do that but haven't tried it yet.
Prior to this the pedal was quite firm.
BTW -- do look at that other rear cylinder. And don't assume a 2-year-old
hose is good, either. Mine only lasted about that long. Next time I'm
getting the braided steel ones.
