Hi James,
I thought of a few suggestions for this puzzle: Turn the car 180 degrees; is the
same side still lower? or is the other side now lower? Is the floor level?
Maybe it is an optical illusion or perhaps there is a black hole nearby, or
maybe the missing gold is not in the ground... maybe it is in the bottom of the
driver's door, thus weighing that side down. Similarly, he should check for some
helium trapped in the passenger door that is weighing that side up! (This is
also a good application to put that dusty old helium meter to.)
