To anyone contemplating BL badges...

First thing: Check that your car was made after car number 187170 or 187841
(GTs). The reason I wonder is because, unless you've replaced them, there
should be mounting holes in the fenders....

A previous posting mentioned where they go, and this is the same as on my
car. Thank you James. BUT!

IMPORTANT! If you are going to put BL badges on, BE SURE YOU ARE PUTTING ON
THE CORRECT BL BADGE!!!!!!! They have changed over time, and no
reproduction available from Moss, TRF, VB, or SICP matches any of the
original versions!!!!!!!!!

Version #1: This version had MOUNTING STUDS. Not sticky tape. Second
distinction, this version had round corners. Third,. the printing was in
blue... with the words in silver. That is, it was printed in negative. The
surface is SMOOTH.

Version #2 is like version #1 except it is STICKY TAPED on, plus, the
printing is now reversed. The negative space is not printed, the words are
printed. The words are blue, not silver. Smooth surface.

Version #3 is A CASTING. the words "British Leyland" and the logo are
SUNKEN. The corners are round. This does NOT APPEAR IN ORIGINAL MGB! The
sunken space is painted blue.

The reproduction versions currenly available are are not like any of
those!!!! They follow the general theme of a chrome "Frame" with sharp
corners, and then the middle is sunken where a poorly cut DECAL is stuck! A
PISS POOR QUALITY reproduction. Terrible. No BL side logo was ever a decal.
Ever. I have not yet sena correct reproduction.

If I was doing a proper restoration, I would seek out the correct badge from
a junkyard and put that on.

And to all you anti-BL-ists. BL made/designed the Jaguar XJ-S, truely one
of the greatest cars ever built, so they weren't that bad a company. If only
the company was run like a real company and not like a socialist welfare
program MG would be around today.

So anyway, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT BADGE before you put anything on!
