Trying to work around the problem of sluggish editing in Word 2000, I found
a fix.
I used the big help file in Word 2000. Following its advice, I...
Went into 'Tools'. 'Options'.
Clicked the 'Save' Tab
Selected 'Embed Truetype Fonts'
Saved the document.
This reduced a 4Mb doc to 685Kb, and a 12.9Mb doc to 1.92Mb. The opening and
editing are now instant.
If you want to try this, I'd suggest working on a copy first, just to make
sure its OK.
