They physically only fit in one way round, that is, there is an inner pad
and an outer pad in each caliper.  The difference is quite easy to see on
the pad when it out (have a look at http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/v8pads.htm),
but less easy to see inside the caliper, so it is a trial and error job.
They *almost* fit in the wrong way, but the right way they sit lower down.
