In case you folks were wondering what to do between Ricks Tour on Saturday
and the car show on Sunday (You'll probably drive right past it on
Saturday)

Larry's long awaited impromptu 39th Birthday Bash

I've sent out a couple of advance warnings, with the plan of sending
out a "real invitation" once things settled down enough for me to
actually plan my birthday party.

Surprise, surprise! Things never settled down, but it's getting close
enough that if I'm going to send out invitations, I have to do it
now. So, I'll throw a party without planning it. I'm just going to
invite a bunch of my friends and see what sort of fun and merriment
happens.

Things that I do know:

Date: Sept 9th
Time: 7PM until ???
Place: 7522 Hwy 9 Felton CA

We'll be doing a gift toss again this year. Probably around
10PM. Bring a small toy (or small toys), preferably wrapped. We'll put
them in a big pile on the back porch. At the right moment, those of us
celebrating birthdays get to stand on the balcony and throw presents
to (or at) the massed throngs below. Everybody gets to play with toys,
everyobody gets to bring toys home.

The nexus book will be out again. It's a silly party game and a
fascinating socialogical experiment. Every page is a differnet social
circle, or activity. Sign your name on each page that is
appropriate. Find out who you know that is a social nexus.

If you are also having a birthday around this time and want to be
involved, and invite your own friends, drop me a note. Even if you
already did. My life has been insanely hectic and I've lost some
email lately.

What to bring: Yourself, toys to throw, cool friends. If you want to
bring food and drink, that's awesome. If you let us know before hand,
that's even more awesome. If you can bring good dance music in CD
format, that too would be wonderful.

Kids: It ain't a kids party, the house ain't kid proofed. If you bring
a child (of any age) keep an eye on it. If it gets into trouble we'll
feed both of you to the crayfish in the river in the back yard.

Crash space: I'd rather you crashed here than into a tree. Toss some
bedding and a change of clothes in your car in case you get too tired
or drunk to drive home safely.

RSVPs: If you'll be showing up and can let me know, that will be
great. I need to know whether to plan for 20 or 200. I'll set up a
mailing list for people who let me know that they'll be showing up so
I can let you know of any late breaking news, and also to make it
eaiser for people to share rides.

British Car show: There will be a British Car Show in Palo Alto on
Sunday the 10th. There will probably be a bunch of folks at the party
going to the car show.

Gifts: What I'd really like is help with the party. However, since the
question of gifts often comes up at these sorts of events, I do have a
wishlist at http://www.red4est.com/lrc/want.html.

Dancing: There will be dancing in the living room. Probably swing,
argentine tango, the bunny hop and anything else that people bring
music for. If you can help DJ, that would be wonderful.

Directions: Take the Mount Hermon Exit off of Hwy 17 in Scotts Valley.
Head West on Mt. Hermon Road until it ends.
Turn right on Graham Hill road.
Turn right to head north on Hwy 9.
About 1 mile later, immediately after El Solyo Hts road, there will be
a large pullout on the right. Park there.
Walk north on hwy 9 about 100 meters. The party will be at the house
with orange lights.

If you need better directions (if you haven't been here, you need
better directions) send me email and I'll send them to you.
