I stand ever so corrected:
You're right, it's the angle. Then the angle offsets
the kingpins on an automotive application. On a solid
front axle, such as a 4 wheel drive application, this
is accomplished by rotating the axle tubes. Some folks
break the proper angle with a lift kit, especially
with extended shackles, others restore it with an
angled shim (wedge) between the spring and its perch
on the axle tube. The grocery cart also has no lower
"kingpin".
