I recently tried a product from http://www.kanolabs.com/ called Exrust on my
floorboard rails/supports on my A and I was amazed that it actually works.
I don't think it dissolves it rather seems to convert it. Instructions say
to paint immediately, but mine has sat for 2 weeks now without paint and no
sign of any more rust at all. Another product I have had success with is
called Extend by Permatex. Most auto parts stores carry it. It is similar
to POR from what I have heard.
