There are lots and lots of MGs running around without the OEM air-pump
and equipment and there have been for years. When I bought a 74 midget
used in 76...of course, the air pump and plumbing had already been
removed (in fact, I believe the original owner told me the dealership
had removed it). This is of course in a state where there are no
emissions regulations or inspections for autos.

Having said that....If you ever intend to show the car in any "serious"
shows, like a concours, AACA, etc., then you would need the stuff. Also,
regardless of your state's emissions regulations, and if you are an
individual who cares about such things, you may feel better running the
air-pump and air injection equipment as being socially conscious!

I have however, run the midget and a 72 MGB both without the air pump
and air injection rail.....without any problems.
