Phil - the Healey engine was a tuned Austin engine, not the other way around.
In fact the 6/99 has a head with an integral intake manifold on it, for twin
carbs, however the AH heads are interchangeable and can add a bit of grunt to
the whole thing. The OD was not a Laycock, as I recall, but a BW - odd, that.
The neatest thing about the Wolseley (as you may have suspected, I used to
own one) was the grille badge which lights up at night.
Someone should save this car as rust free examples are rare. It is basically
an Austin Westminster in up-market garb - better interior (little fold down
trays in the back, though not the full picnic trays of the 6/110 Mk 2) and a
different grille. It also has enough torque to be used as a tow-car for an
LBC - what a nice ensemble that would make pulling up to the British car show!
