I thought there were 3 different tops for the MBG.
1 - "packaway - 1" which literally was a set of bent
poles which you erected like a tent and then draped
the canvas top over.
2 - "packaway - 2" similar to "packaway 1", but this time
the frame was actually functional and had a scissor type action
which folded up. Still had the canvas separate from the frame.
3 - foldaway - the top that most of us are familiar with - folds
away and stows behind the seats.
I have had all 3 tops on my car at one time or other. "3" is by far
the most convenient but takes up too much room behind the seats
and looks the ugliest. "1" is the most inconvenient - it takes ate least
4 arms to erect.
"2" - my favorite. works similar to the foldaway but can be removed from
the car in an instance.
