I'm a big fan of Castrol SuperClean for general parts cleaning.

When I need to clean an engine, and I'm in a part of the world where
it's legal to do so, I like to take my car to a coinop carwash and use
their high pressure hose and engine cleaner. Spreay the degreaser on
the greasy bits and let is soak in.

The other possibilty is to raid some old cardboard boxes and put them
(flattened) under your car in the driveway before raining all the goop
down on them. Iikewise you could get a dropcloth, or use a cheap
tarp.

OSB flake board is only about $8 for a 4x8 sheet. You could set it
down in the driveway for anytime that you need to do greasy stuff that
you don't want to trash the pavement with.

I've found something worse than listening to an oldies station and hearing the
music I used to listen to. Hearing the "new" music I complained about on
oldies stations.
