For the sake of follow-up, Ron's technique works like a champ.  A further 
problem
is
that the document is 610 pages long.  It's the text of the ERISA law (Employee
Retirement Income Security Program).  Now if I can only find a way to 
selectively

print sections.

Thanks to all of you who responded on and off list.  BTW, Barrie Robinson also
knew
the solution.
