As anyone in the Chicagoland MG CLub will attest, I am not easy on my car.
I've run endurance rallies, autocrosses, use it as everyday transportation ,
as well as long trips. I have never had any problem with recession. It may
be due to the induction hardening, I don't know. There may also be a
difference in the additives of American gas versus European gas. But unless I
was rebuilding a head with recession present, I would not put in hardened
valve seats.
