My fondest memories of Costa Rica include riding the Mercedes-Benz buses to
outlying provinces after landing in San Jose, Large American expatriate
community that had its own Colonia (Colony) and Newspaper "Tico Times", No
standing Army only Police to keep order...Very European looking people in
capital city of San Jose, C.R. Wonderful Great narrow gauge RR through
jungles of lush orchid covered trees, monkeys and parrots Limon, Costa Rica
is on Carribean side, Punta Arenas, on Gulf of Nicoya, last place to get your
Yacht or Boat in Ship-Shape (within legal condition) to pass inspection
before Trying to access Panama Canal crossing to Carribean and Atlantic
ocean. Lots of Diesel powered Peugots and a few MGs But mostly Bruteish 4WD's
and Land Rover types. Terrible roads outside of Cities Don't Drink the Water
and watch out for the Rum. Cheap, Powerful, Plentiful, Fill yer own Jug out
of huge Gov't Vats or Buy it already Bottled, Check out Ocean Fishing..have a
blast. Food: Resturants are what you're willing to pay for. Many Americano
style fast food places.
Accomodations much the same You pay for what you get. Find out local exchange
rate...The monetary system is called Colones. Find out what the exchange rate
is before you try to buy anything. Change money that you as you need it!
Exchange rate changes daily. I'm already getting envious.
