I'd go further than that and say bleeding the line is a bad thing. The tube
is a very narrow capiliary, and a tube full of thick oil on a cold day is
going to significantly slug the operation of the gauge, unlike a tube full
(OK, except the bottom couple of inches when under pressure) of air.
