I got a Lucas lifetime rebuild from AutoZone. If you want it I'll go
look at the receipt and give you the part #.
One must keep in mind that the merchants ( AZ, Advance, et al ) are at
the mercy of the rebuilder. If the merchant happens to get a batch of
rebuilt units from a rebuilder who has poor quality control, everybody
suffers until the batch is exhausted and the merchant ets the next batch
from a better rebuilder.
Sounds like you may need a bearing in your alt. Why not take it apart
and replace the bearings & brushes? Check the diodes while yer at it.
