Magnette Mk4 steering conversion

Front wheel track between a Farina MG Magnette Mk4 and an MGB is not too far
off. So, is it really impossible to convert the Magnette to a rack and
pinion system? Carb clearance shouldn't be a problem as this particular LHD
Magnette has already been converted to a single HS2 carb, as per the
"lesser" Farinas.

Has anyone, anywhere given it a try?
