Although you failt to indicate which car we are talking about, I assume it is 
the MGB - might be a good idea to put that in any posts asking for info. I 
know YOU know what we are talking about, and some of the rest of us will have 
a good idea, but newcomers (or forgetful old fogeys) won't.

600 - 700 should work well for you, but make sure you don't use stiffer rears 
at the same time. Stiff front/soft rear works best on these cars, IMHO.

I use over 900 lb. on my MGA, with stock rears with a leaf removed and it 
works beautifully.
