I don't know if the dipstick on my 1971 is the same as
your earlier car, but I measured mine and the results
are as follows:
It's 8 3/16" from the "MAX" line to the bottom of the
stopper. I measured to the bottom of the metal boss
that forms the support of the rubber stopper seal, not
the rubber itself. Email me if you need me to clarify
that.
It's 10 1/4" from the bottom of the metal boss to the
very bottom of the dipstick.
