I am doing a set for my '74 B now, I did a set for my '74 Midget last year.
I used a paint stripper to remove most of the paint, it took a couple of
applications, then cleaned them up real good in the glass bead cabinet. It
would take forever to remove all the paint glass blead blasting them. I used
Ford argent spray paint, the part # is F6AZ 19K207-AA. (I bet Ford uses
something similar in Australia.) It's a high solid, high quality paint, a
little more expensive than your average spray paint, though. I just masked
them off with 3-M masking tape and cut off the excess with a utility knife.
It's a little more work than a mask but I got good sharp lines without any
overspray or bleed through. Any good black paint will work. I also
clear-coated mine, they look great and have held up fine on the Midget.
