Woaaah.
The oil cooler lines seal where the ball of the steel line meets the cup in the
alloy oil cooler. Sealing the threads with tape is not the answer, as they are
not the sealing area as they are in pipe thread. Make sure that the ball and
socket are completely smooth and there are no nicks. In many cases the problem
is with the oil cooler, where the hose has been overtightened and the socket
damaged. A single wrap of teflon tape is not a bad idea as it tends to
lubricate the threads and helps to prevent corrosion.
Try the teflon tape, cos you may be able to get the line a bit tighter and get
the seal back, but if the problem persists and the cooler line ball end is in
good condition I would suggest replacing the cooler.
