        Good idea !!  I was thinking of coating the shaft ends with grease/oil, 
wiping it off but just leaving a fine coating, and finally sealing the ends 
with Permatex silicone gasket sealer.  Theoretically the Permatex would stick 
to the carb body, but the grease would keep it from sticking to the shafts.  
Your idea seems easier.  I have the shaft ends packed with grease, now, but 
don't figure it will last.
        I've never heard of vacuum grease.  Where do I buy it ??

I have put a BandAde on the worn-throttle-shaft-
bushings/bores by installing vacuum-grease-
saturated felt washers next to the carb body
where the shaft exits (and air enters).
Vacuum grease is engineered to NOT move under
vacuum and it is pretty darned good at resisting
heat.  Will you have to replace the grease at
intervals?  Yes, but it will get you buy until
you can FIX the problem.
