Not really sure how thinking in km/liters or $/liter can be any easier than
miles/gallon or $/gallon.  Certainly once you are used to one or the other
it is much easier to stay with it.  In general I think the metric system is
easier but in those cases I just don't see it.  Whatever.

As one who has lived through a change over from Imperial to Metric here in 
Oz all I can say is that the Metric system is far superior and so much 
easier to use than the old Imperial one.  Quite frankly
I don't know how you guys in the USA put up with it.........  We source a 
great deal of glass out of the US and its a constant pain trying to converse

in inches to you guys when we're thinking in mm.
