I recovered my MG Midget seats the other day with new leather from
Prestige Auto Trim (http://www.prestigeautotrim.com/), and noticed one
of the seats (driver side) is a bit flat. The foam is in fairly good
shape (not falling apart, doesn't seem excessively flat) and the
diaphragm is fine as well. No sag, tears, etc.
So, lay a few layers of 1/2" foam over the top to build it up? Or
should I put a piece underneath between the diaphragm and the foam?
I've rotated that foam over to the passenger side where it won't get
used as much, but still I'd like to help it a bit.
Oh one little trick I tried which seems to work. The foam backs were a
bit worn on the edges where the thinner parts wrapped around the sides
to the back board. I was afraid if I slipped the covers on it would
mess things up and/or I'd have hard back board edges poking out. The
old covers had what looked like a plastic bag slipped over them to hold
it in place, but that was torn in the process of removing the old
covers. So what I did was grab some plastic wrap/cling film, and do a
few wraps around the seat. It blends the foam and the back board
together very nicely.
