Push for air, pull to close.
I don't know if mine even works any more, as I always leave it open,
never pull the knob out. Open is good for heating in cold weather
and for cool air ventilation in hot weather, and the defogger won't
work without it. Not sure why anyone would ever want to close the
vent (unless the inlet hose was missing).
