If an electronic pump dies, that's it, you aren't going anywhere.
 
If an original Lucas dies, you can usually coax a few more miles out of  it.
 
I think I prefer the Lucas!  Carry a point file and dress the points  if 
they start to erode and you can probably get a bunch more miles out of  it.  A 
perforated diaphragm is a bit more work but can also be  rectified.
