Balancing Centre Lock Wheels

I have read the section on John's Web pages and shown the pictures to my 
tyre supplier, however with modern 6 inch rim wires the setup does not seem 
to fit.  The tyre is too deep and the securing thread on his machine is not 
long enough.

Does anyone have any info applicable to deeper wheels, or is the fitting the 
same so the local tyre shop just needs a longer thread?
