Hey D&F Wagstaff,

I have driven coast to coast many times, last March I drove from Southern New
Mexico to New York (in my Chevy mini-van) en route to England, then drove
back in late April pulling a trailer with my Morgan Three-Wheeler. My route
for that trip was through mid-America. That trip could have been done in a
Morgan but not comfortably... too cold and rainy east of the Mississippi. And
the weather was too nasty to enjoy most of the country.

In 1984 I drove my '66 Morgan Plus Four from Seattle, Washington to
Brownsville, Texas--coast to coast but not the coasts you had in mind--in
August and September. Some of that trip was WONDERFUL with great scenery and
weather to match and some of it was obscenely hot (mainly through Arizona).

The weather here today is lovely... we had the Plus 4 out of the garage by 9
AM this morning. But tomorrow it MAY be filthy... or it MAY be grand.

Your proposed tour would be great fun but would likely be a lot more
successful at least a month later than you propose. If you possibly can,
start in late April and finish in late May. The Texas Hill Country will be
glorious and everywhere else will be well into spring.

After June, most of the Southern United States will likely be too hot for you
to be comfortable.

If you come through my part of the country (Southern New Mexico, 45 miles
north of El Paso, Texas) let me know and I will provide any assistance
possible, including a bed for a couple of nights if you like.

Cheers,

Colin Cobb
