       this true?"

Will, it probably is for the TVR you got the engine from, It is possibly
true for the
Cortina that the engine should have been in. But as to your Morgan, DON'T
Believe everything you read. If fact, I thought you and I had this
discussion last
Summer when I had to pull the eng. From my 4/4 to paint it. Any way, I have
a
Short article on pulling the eng. On the 4/4 on the web page. But the short
answer
Is NO, it is NOT true. You do NOT pull the xmission with the eng. But you
should
Pull the radiator. I don't remember removing the xmission from it's mount.
I'm pretty
Sure I left it connected, and placed a jack under the front of the xmission
to support
It. I strongly removing the cowl (which you say is already done, and
remove the
Radiator. In reality, it doesn't give you any more real room, it just
reduces the chances
Of damaging them. There are 3 cross bars - 2 for the front subframe, and
one for the
Vallance. Remove the small one for the vallances. The front subframe will
limit how
Far forward you can pull the eng.

"what should I do with the old 1500 mill?"

Is it the original eng. For the car? Is it the correct eng. For the era?
If yes to either
Question, STORE IT!!!!!!! You should listen to your 2nd and 3rd voices. If
someone
ever decides to really SHOW your car at any Of the AACA meets for the major
national
meets (ie. Pebble Beach) you will need the correct eng. Having it laying
around, won't
hurt you now, and will keep the value of the car up, if and when you decide
to sell it.

        Dear all:

It appears that I've finally snagged a 1600 X-flow engine (taken out
of a
1970 TVR), and am looking to make the swap in the spring. I have a
few
        questions, mechanical and philosophical...

--the shop manual that I've been using for this car suggests that I
can
pull the 1500 out and keep both the tranny and radiator in the car.
Is
this true? The manual says that all I need to do is remove the
tranny-to-chassis mount and push the tranny back (presumably
compressing
the prop shaft at its spline). I'm inclined to remove the rad; it's
not
hard to do, now that I already have the cowl off, and that'll give
me a
nice chance to clean it up and repaint it (the rad, that is).

--on a more philophical note; what should I do with the old 1500
mill? One
voice says "sell it immediately, to the guy who keeps bugging you to
buy it
for his lotus super seven." Another voice says "keep it; its a good
engine
and afterall its probably the original engine and it's a bloody
shame to
permanently separate a car from its original engine." A third voice
says
"keep it; you have the storage space and these engines are only
going to
get harder to find. Some orthodontist with more money than sense is
going
to blow a hole in his doing some such vintage racing and will pay
much $$$
for yours, in the years to come."

As usual, I anxiously await all recieved wisdom from list members on
these
        important matters,

        cheers,
        WZ
