I think the reasoning behind positive ground supplying a hotter spark is 
because of temperature. The center electrode on a spark plug would be 
negative , and  positive  would be where  the plug touched the head. (thus 
cooler). Wouldn't the center electrode be hotter? Would this make it easier 
to fire? Would electricity leave the hotter central electrode , -----going 
toward the negative ,------easier this way?   Heck, I'm just guessing here 
but that is my 2 cents worth. How many of you have converted to neg ground 
anyway?   Bob C.
